Amylee Anyoha: I am a 17 year-old senior at Newtown High School. Although I have many pastimes, I believe my favorite things to do are play guitar and write music. Currently, I am a guitar teacher for elementary school kids in Newtown and I absolutely love working with young children. The liberal arts are a big part of my life, yet I know I want to be in the Public Health field in the future. I plan to major in Biology on a Pre-Medicine track in college and use the knowledge I gain to change global health systems. This project is something that I have wanted to tackle with my peers for a while and I am so glad that I will be able to make an impact on water sanitation. As a future Epidemiologist, the global quality of life -especially water- is something I strive to improve through science and humanities.

Kelly O’Connell: I am currently in 12th grade at NHS and am 18 years old. I love to go running and to exercise in general. I am interested in studying nutrition in college. This expo is important to me because through researching the topic of unfiltered water and learning about its serious effects, I realize how big of an issue it is around the world. We need to educate people on purifying water in order to prevent diseases that cause so many deaths each year. This is a huge issue locally, nationally and globally and it needs to be addressed so people are aware of it and can do something about it. I am confident our group will get the message across and leave a lasting legacy on this public health issue.

Jess Amante: I am a 17 year-old senior at Newtown High School. I like to cook and spend time with my friends. I am planning on majoring in Psychology when I go to college. I think that spreading information about water filtration is very important because it will spread awareness of the health issues of unfiltered water. By telling people the important facts, it will make people realize that drinking unfiltered water has a lot of health risks. I believe that our group has the ability to inspire people to help change the water problem in our state, country, and world.

Sydney Allen: I am a 17 year-old junior at Newtown High School. I like to be outside and run often and go to the beach. I want to major in missionary studies when I go to college. This expo is very important to me because so many men, women and children across the world are suffering everyday to find clean drinking water. It is something that is essential to the human body and without it, they are facing death. It has become a local and global problem and I believe that with this project and the efforts that we are putting into it, we can educate people about the importance of clean drinking water and hopefully make a difference and spread our message to people of all backgrounds.

Christian Beaurline: I am an 18 year-old senior at Newtown High School. Most days I'm working or volunteering at my aunts clinic. I plan to get my Medical degree and get a job as a Anesthesiologist. The topic of clean water means a lot to everyone considering it's a vital part of life. This issue has a very big impact all around the world, and hopefully we can help people of all different backgrounds get access to one of the most basic human needs.

Sarah Craig: Hi, I’m Sarah, I’m 18 years old, and I’m a senior at Newtown High School. My hobbies include backpacking, hoop dancing, yoga, and writing. I am majoring in environmental science with a concentration in sustainable energy and I am minoring biology. This project is important to me because I believe that humans need to shift their focus towards our planet and managing our natural resources. Clean, fresh water is vital to sustaining not only human life, but life on planet Earth as a whole.

MEET THE TEAM

Tim Krapf: I am a 16 year-old junior at Newtown High School. I play on the Varsity football team and lift weights during the off season. This expo is important to me because water plays such a big part in my life that I want to help as much as I can. By educating people on the dangers of unfiltered water and how they can get access to clean water, I believe that we can save many lives.

Mandy Mele: I am currently a 16 year-old junior at Newtown High School. I am a competitive swimmer and partiicpate in track in field. I look forward to going to college to become a Physicians Assistant. Newtown Springs is important because people need to be educated about water filtration and disaster preparedness. This is important to me because we need to lower the amount of contaminated drinking water. The Expo is our perfect opportunity to make a difference in people's lives and help educate the world about contaminated water.

Maddie Erhardt: I am a 17 year-old senior at Newtown High School. I am planning on majoring in Finance with a secondary major in Entrepreneurship. I am on the varsity track team and I always enjoy being with my friends. Newtown Springs is important to me as well as my entire class because we need to educate people on water contamination and be able to show affordable ways to get access to clean and safe drinking water. There are so many easy ways to prevent water contamination, and it is imperative to me that we provide solutions for safe consumption such as water filtration systems.

Enea Musaka: I am a 17 year-old senior at Newtown High School. I like to hang out with friends and I enjoy working out. This project is important because we’re spreading awareness about a major issue. Many kids around the world don’t have access to clean water, causing them to waste valuable time in their day just searching for clean water. We’re trying to give these kids their lives back so they can spend their day going to school instead of searching for water.

Heather McKeown: I am a 17 year-old senior at Newtown High School. I am planning on going to school for studio art next year. I love spending time outside in the sunshine, especially on the beach and hiking. I also spend a lot of my free time dancing. I love to exercise and live a healthy lifestyle. Newtown Springs is important to me because it is important that we educate people on how to clean their water so that they can be as healthy as possible. It can bring the global community closer to achieving our goal of having clean and decontaminated water.

Taylor Stroili: I am 17 and a senior at Newtown High School. I want to major in International Business and continue my studies in Italian and Spanish. I love to travel and plan on studying abroad in college. The main reason why Newtown Springs is important to me stems from my fascination in other cultures and appreciation for the world around me. I feel it is important to know as much as possible about global issues so that we can do our best to contribute to making this world a better place. This project is a great opportunity to educate others on the misfortune of so many people who don’t have easy access to water; something that most of us take for granted.
